Box Score MALIBU, Calif. - Nevada women's basketball took on Pepperdine on the road with
Lexie Givens reaching 1,000 career points in the 60-58 overtime loss.
Givens ended the night as the leading scorer for Nevada, tallying 20 points in her milestone game.
Olivia Poulivaati had a career high 13 points and nine rebounds.
The opening 10 was a battle to hold onto the lead. There were four lead changes and three ties, capped off by a six-point run by the Pack that ultimately put them in front, 17-12, heading into the second.
Quarter two, Pepperdine tied it back up at 17 before Nevada went on a nine-point run to put them back in front. Givens was responsible for seven of the nine,
Victoria Davis adding two.
The Waves tried to cut into the lead, but the Pack only extended is by going up by as much as twelve. They ended the half with a 10-point advantage, leading 33-23.
The third quarter kicked off with the teams trading baskets before Nevada went up by 15 courtesy of a three and jumper from Poulivaati.
Pepperdine made it a close game by going on a big scoring run of its own to make Nevada's lead 40-38 heading into the final 10.
The game stayed close through the fourth, neither team going up by more than five. With 50 seconds to go, the Waves were up by four. Givens knocked down a free throw to bring the Pack within two. Just five seconds left in regulation,
Izzy Sullivan hit a three to keep Nevada alive and send the game into overtime.
Extra time began with Davis and Sullivan combining to put the Pack up by four. However, they couldn't hold off the Waves, and ultimately fell in the final seconds.
Nevada will next take on Cal State East Bay at home on December 14th at 1:30 PM.
