Nevada announces limited-edition 150th Anniversary wine release

RENO, Nev. – The University of Nevada, in partnership with former Wolf Pack and Green Bay Packers lineman Tony Moll, is thrilled to announce the release of a limited-edition President's Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon in a commemorative 150th Anniversary bottle.

"Creating a wine that celebrates the University has been a goal of mine since we started our winery," said Moll, who co-founded Three Fat Guys Winery in Sonoma, Calif., following his retirement from the NFL. "Being able to do this on the 150th anniversary of the University of Nevada makes this wine that much more special."

Moll and his partners at Three Fat Guys are donating 100 percent of the proceeds from the sale of this commemorative wine, which was made exclusively for the University, to the Pack Excellence Fund benefitting the 400-plus student athletes at Nevada.

"Tony Moll is the epitome of a Wolf Pack student athlete. His passion for the University and our athletics program is contagious," said Nevada Athletics Director Stephanie Rempe. "We are grateful to him and Three Fat Guys Winery for their energy and enthusiasm to make this opportunity a reality."

Only 1,580 750ml and 100 1.5L magnum-size bottles—perfect for sharing and celebrating special occasions— were produced using grapes from Napa Valley. Moll said the wine, which was aged for two years in French oak barrels, is ripe with a fruit-forward aroma and a full-mouth feel and features flavors of dark berries, chocolate and hints of tobacco.

"This is not just an ordinary bottle of wine, but a wine that comes from celebrated vineyards in the Napa Valley that I feel honored to be able to bottle and put the label for the University on it. I hope everybody can enjoy this wine and celebrate with it in toast to the University of Nevada. For not only the most amazing memories during our college years but of the sense of community that follows," said Moll.

Nevada fans and wine enthusiasts can purchase the wine online. Visit www.nevada150wine.com to place an order and learn about an exclusive wine pick up and private Three Fat Guys Winery tasting event slated for Friday, Oct. 13, on the University campus.

"The energy on our campus and our focus on the future has never been higher as we move toward our 150th year, sharing memories, showing our appreciation for those who came before us and inevitably leading us to what an exciting next 150 years our University has before it," said University President Brian Sandoval. "Friendships, a keen awareness of teamwork and an even stronger sense of how positive action can help today's students achieve their dreams is at the heart of this endeavor with Tony Moll and Three Fat Guys Winery. It is yet another enduring truth of who we are – a place where service to others is paramount and where the successes of every member of the Wolf Pack Family lift the life, the calling and the mission of our institution to its finest intentions."

Details about the Oct. 13 tasting will be sent to those who RSVP upon completing their wine purchase. Anyone who is unable to attend the pick-up event can either elect to have their order shipped or can arrange to pick up their order from Nevada's Athletics office the week of Oct. 16-20.
