RENO, Nev. - Nevada topped Colorado State on the first game of the series, 9-8, Thursday afternoon.
Carley Brown was the starter in the circle for the Pack. Brown had ten hits, six runs, and two strikeouts in four innings played before Blake Craft came in to relief. Craft played for three innings, giving four hits, two runs, and three strikeouts to close the game.
The Rams started the game with two runs on the board. The Pack responded with three runs scored in the bottom of the first. Chelie Senini got on base with a walk and stole her 45th stolen base of the season. Bridgette Gilliano scored a two-run home run to tie the game, 2-2. Madison Clark singled to extend the lead to 3-2 for the Pack.
In the second inning, Gilliano reached SAC bunt scored Senini and Maile Olsen for a 5-2 lead. The Rams scored two in the third inning for a 5-4 score and took the lead 6-5 in the top of the fourth.
Nevada tied the game after scoring on a wild pitch in the fifth inning and took the lead with a Hannah Di Genova single that scored Jenkins.
The battle between the Wolf Pack and the Rams continued as Colorado State tied the game in the top of the sixth. Nevada responded with a Gilliano single to score Senini for an 8-7 lead.
The Rams tied the score again in the top of the seventh, but Maile Olsen, with a walk-off single, ended the game with a Wolf Pack, 9-8, win.
