RENO, Nev. - Air Force's three-run first inning put Nevada into an early hole, and the Wolf Pack went on to drop Friday's series opener, 7-2.
Jake Sansing muffled the Nevada bats through eight-plus innings, allowing just five hits until
Nolan Wilson's double and
Matt Clayton's two-run homer to start the bottom of the ninth.
The Falcons (16-19, 9-7 MW) got to Pack starter
Kade Morris early. Jay Thomason got the scoring started in the first with a one-out, two-run homer the opposite way to left-center, and a run-scoring single from Trayden Tamiya added to the lead.
Landon Boyd doubled to start the second, and scored on Chase Spencer's RBI single to make it 4-0.
Morris would go 6.2 innings, charged with six earned runs of the seven scored, striking out seven but falling to 3-4 on the year.
JR Freethy had two hits, including a double, and Clayton was 2-for-4 with his long ball, to lead the Pack. For Air Force, Thomason and Sam Kulasingam each had a homer and two RBIs.
Nevada (13-19, 4-11 MW) will try to even the series Saturday, with first pitch set for 4:35 p.m.
