RENO, Nev. - Nevada secured the win with an 11-6 score on game two of the series against in-state rivals UNLV Saturday afternoon.
Blake Craft (5-1) recorded the win, while Tyra Clary got her second safe of the season. Craft started in the circle for three innings to give up seven hits, six runs (two earned), two walks, and four strikeouts. Clary came out to relieve the junior in the fourth inning. The Reno native gave up four hits, and two walks, while striking out four players.
In the offense, Gabby Herrera led the team with one run, two hits, and two RBI, while Maile Olsen had two runs, two hits, and three RBI. Herrera singled in the bottom of the first and drove Bradianne Glover and Chelie Senini across the plate.
The Rebels made a come back in the top of the third to pick up a 4-3 lead. The Pack responded quickly by tying the game 4-4 on a wild pitch and scoring two runs.
Maile Olsen, in the bottom of the third, was picked off while Bridgette Gilliano was stealing home to put the Pack up 6-4.
UNLV scored a home run in the top of the fourth to cut the deficit of the scoreboard to 7-6, but Olsen a two-RBI triple in the bottom of the fifth and extended the lead for the Pack, 9-6.
Freshman Hannah Di Genova tallied her first home run as a member of the Pack. While Aaliyah Jenkins secured the win for the Pack in the bottom of the sixth with a solo home run to center field.
Senini, Haylee Engelbrecht, and Haley Painter also recorded a hit for the Pack offense.
Nevada has 101 stolen bases in the season and has registered a new school record after three stolen bases in the game by Senini, Glover, and Gilliano.
