RENO, Nev. - The University of Nevada Men's Basketball program and Head Coach Steve Alford have announced the signing of Caelum Harris, a 6-foot-6, 200-pound athletic wing from well-renowned high school Phhoenix Prep, marking the first signee for the Pack in the 2024 high school class.
"We are thrilled to announce the addition of Caelum to our program," Alford said. "He is a big and athletic guard that is versatile, can play a lot of positions, and provides us with great size on the wing. He really understands the game and how to play at a high level, and we cannot wait for him to join our program."
Entering his senior season and first year at Phhoenix Prep, Harris has already compiled a superb youth career.
Prior to making the move to Phhoenix Prep, Harris was a standout player at Stewarts Creek High School in Smyrna, Tennessee. During his junior season at Stewarts Creek, Harris was named a 4A All-District 8 performer for his stellar play throughout the season. Harris helped lead Stewarts Creek to a playoff appearance last year.
Harris also has international experience, as he played for the Philippines at the FIBA U16 Asian Championships in the summer of 2022. Harris had an impressive outing at the event, posting averages of 10.3 points, 6.0 rebounds, and 2.7 assists across six games. He had his best game of the event in a 95-87 win over Iran, scoring 15 points on 6-7 shooting from the field, in addition to pulling down six rebounds, dishing out three assists, recording two blocks, and tallying one steal.
Harris also had an exceptional performance for the Philippines in a close loss to Japan, as he scored a team-high 18 points, while also grabbing six boards, earning two steals, and tallying one block.
On the AAU circuit, Harris has played for NYBA Basketball, one of the premier programs in all of Tennessee.
Harris enters his final season of high school basketball with immense expectations competing for Phhoenix Prep.
Nevada is coming off an exceptional season in 2022-23, and the Pack began the 2023-24 season with a 14-point victory over Sacramento State, marking their fourth straight season-opening win. The Pack will head to Washington to face Pac-12 foe Washington this Sunday.
