UP NEXT
The Wolf Pack heads out on the road for a Jan. 15 date at Air Force, before returning to Lawlor for a two-game home stand. The Pack will host Wyoming Monday, Jan. 17, at 5 p.m., in a rescheduling of Jan. 4's postponed contest, then will host Fresno State Friday, Jan. 21, at 8 p.m.
SCOUTING BOISE STATE
Boise State (10-4, 1-0 MW), like Nevada, will be seeing its first action following a break of over 10 days when Wednesday's game tips off. The Broncos were last in action Dec. 28, defeating Fresno State, 65-55.
The Broncos, winners of seven-straight, are led by the play of Abu Kigab (14.2 ppg, 6.9 rpg), Marcus Shaver Jr. (12.9 ppg, 4.3 rpg), with Mladen Armus (7.1 ppg, 8.5 rpg) underneath.
SERIES WITH BOISE STATE
Nevada leads the all-time series against the Broncos, 50-28, and has won 11 of the past 12 meetings after sweeping all three meetings in 2020-21.
The Nevada coaching staff also boasts impressive head-to-head records against Boise State. Head coach Steve Alford is 8-1 all-time (4-0 with New Mexico, 4-1 with Nevada) against the Broncos, and head-to-head against Bronco head coach Leon Rice, while Nevada associate head coach Craig Neal went 6-3 against Rice's Bronco teams while New Mexico's head coach from 2013-17.
MOUNTAIN WEST'S BEST OVER LAST FIVE SEASONS
Nevada won its eighth Mountain West opener in 10 seasons in the conference Jan. 1 with its 79-70 victory over New Mexico.
The win continued Nevada's conference-best run of play since 2016-17, as the Wolf Pack is 67-23 (.744) in Mountain West regular-season play since the start of the 2016-17 campaign. That figure is the best winning percentage in the conference over that time (San Diego State is next, at 66-27, .710).
FINALLY, WE CAN PLAY?
Nevada has persevered going on two months with COVID breaks postponing its scheduled games. Since the 79-66 win over Pepperdine on Nov. 30, Nevada has had six games canceled or postponed. Wednesday's game against Boise State will be just the fifth over a span of 43 days.
