RENO, Nev. – Nevada (0-9) could not find itself on the winning side on Saturday, falling to both Hofstra (3-7) and Wichita State (8-2). The Wolf Pack only plated three runs on the day, falling 7-2 to the Pride and 3-1 to the Shockers.

Nevada will wrap up its home-opening weekend tomorrow at 10:30 a.m. against Wichita State, looking for its first win of the young season. The contest will be broadcast live on the Mountain West Network with TJ Sarbacker on the call.

In the first game of the day, Shane O'Malley earned the start on the bump and tallied a career-high six innings pitched and only allowed three runs in the process. The Pride came alive in the eighth inning, plating four more runs putting the game out of reach for Nevada.

The biggest swing of the day came in the eighth inning for the Pack, however as Dillan Shrum blasted his third homerun of the season. He leads Nevada with a .313 batting average, 10 hits and three bombs.

The second game came down to the wire, as Jake Jackson limited the Shockers to three earned runs through six innings while striking out a season-high six batters. The bullpen shutout WSU in the final three innings, as Blane Abeyta and Ben Purcell combined for five strikeouts and only three hits.

The Pack scored its only run of the game in the fifth, when a ball hit by Marco Valenzuela caused a throwing error by the shortstop and Brady Hormel was able to score from third base. In the ninth, Hormel smacked a single that put him on base and the tying run to the plate, but Nevada was unable to capitalize.

Fans can use their men's basketball ticket from Saturday night against San Diego State to get into Sunday's game for free. Nevada will look to grab its first home win of the year and end its weekend on a positive note.
