SAN JOSE, Calif. - The Nevada softball team moves to 26-25, 10-13 after dropping game two to the San José State Spartans, 3-0.
Kendall Fritz got the start and pitched six complete innings only giving up three earned runs along with six strikeouts. The freshman was charged the loss and moves to 11-9 on the season.
The team combined for just four hits in the contest with
Sadaria McAlister,
Dallas Millwood,
Emma Covert and
Rachel Rodriguez all recording single hits on the day; Millwood had the lone extra-base hit with a double.
The Spartans went on the board first with two runs in the third inning after a two-run home run. The Pack stayed within striking distance for the fourth and fifth inning, putting at least one runner on but a third run was scored on a bases loaded RBI walk to go up 3-0 in the bottom of the sixth.
The Pack had a runner in the top of the seventh after Rodriguez pinch hit for
Danielle Lew and singled to the second baseman but a fielders choice ended the threat.
The two meet for the final time tomorrow, May 11 at noon PT with the Pack looking to take one from the series.
