Nevada loses series to San Diego State

Concludes nine-game homestand

Reno, Nev. – With an 11-3 loss on Sunday, Nevada (16-15, 6-9 MW) dropped its three-game series to San Diego State (18-14, 7-6 MW) on Sunday afternoon. The Wolf Pack drilled two homers on the day, as junior Dillan Shrum and sophomore Joshua Zamora have each tallied a team-high seven on the season.

The Pack will play at Saint Mary's on Tuesday, as its nine-game homestand has come to an end. The game is slated for 2 p.m., with live stats available during the contest.

The Aztecs started the game hot, plating two RBI-singles and scoring its third run on a fielder's choice as SDSU took a 3-0 advantage into the bottom of the first. Shrum got one run back with his shot to left field, but the Pack still trailed 3-1 after the first inning.

San Diego State plated four more runs in the third inning, thanks in large part to Chad Bible's three-run bomb that put the Aztecs up 7-1. SDSU scored its final runs of the afternoon in the fourth frame when it put up four more runs to go up 11-1.

The Pack put up two more runs before the day ended, thanks to a Nick Seamons RBI single in the fourth and Zamora's homer in the eighth frame.

Dalton Gomez suffered the loss, pitching 2.2 innings. In relief, Tyler Smith, Shane Gustafson and Ty Hueckman pitched 5.1 shutout innings and only allowed a combined three hits.

Jaylon McLaughlin is tops on the Pack with a .396 batting average in conference play. Shrum's five homers against MW opponents is tops in the league.
