Nevada falls to Air Force in second game of series

Rubber match slated for 1 p.m.

Reno, Nev. – Nevada (14-12, 5-6 MW) dropped the second contest of its three-game series with Air Force (11-12, 3-3 MW) on Saturday night 8-2. Both of Nevada's runs came from solo home runs by Dillan Shrum and Weston Hatten.

The rubber match between the Wolf Pack and Falcons is slated for 1 p.m. tomorrow at Don Weir Field at Peccole Park. Tickets are available online or by calling (775) 348-PACK.

Shrum and Jaylon McLaughlin led the Pack with two hits each on the day. The Falcons, despite winning by six runs, only outhit Nevada 10 hits to nine.

Owen Sharts (2-5) suffered the loss for Nevada after dealing 3.2 innings. Josh Congress and Cooper Powell combined to pitch five scoreless innings for Nevada to close out the game.

After plating two runs in the third thanks to two Falcon RBI-singles, Air Force exploded in the fourth with six runs to take an 8-0 lead over the Pack.

Shrum and Hatten blasted their home runs in the sixth inning, as Shrum belted his sixth of the year on the first pitch of the inning and Hatten just two pitches later over the left field wall. Shrum's four homeruns in conference play lead the Mountain West.

With 99 career victories as a head coach, T.J. Bruce will go for the milestone of 100 wins tomorrow in the series finale against the Falcons. The game will be broadcast on 94.1 FM/1450 AM with Alex Margulies on the call.

A live stream will be broadcast on the Mountain West Network tomorrow, as the Pack looks to even its conference record.
