Reno, Nev. – Despite a ninth-inning home run by senior Weston Hatten to make it a one-run game, Nevada (8-7) fell at No. 25 UC Santa Barbara (12-2) on Tuesday night 2-1. Sophomore Jake Jackson, a Freshman All-American in 2018, made his first start of the season.

Jackson (0-1) threw 1.1 innings, giving up one earned run and striking out two batters. The Wolf Pack used four pitchers, with the final three coming out of the bullpen only allowing one run on five hits.

A one-out RBI single by the Gauchos in the first inning gave them an early lead that they would never surrender the rest of the contest. An insurance run in the fifth, which proved to be the game-winner, came from designated hitter Eric Yang on an RBI-single. Yang also scored the run in the first inning, finishing with a team-high two hits.

The Pack totaled five hits in the contest, led by junior Wyatt Tilley who finished 2-for-2 on the day. Hatten's homer in the ninth came with two outs, and was his second of the year to tie the team high.

Nevada will be back in action on Friday, when it opens a three-game home series against Mountain West foe New Mexico. There will be a radio broadcast with Zack Bayrouty on the call on 94.1 FM/1450 AM. There will be no live stream of the game.
