CLEMSON, S.C. - Nevada (14-30) senior Justin Bridgman hit his first career home run in his 580th career at bat for the Wolf Pack leading off the game at No. 6 Clemson (35-11) but the Tigers scored the next four runs on the way to the 5-2 nonconference victory at Doug Kingsmore Stadium. The Wolf Pack dropped to 14-30 on the season while Clemson improved to 35-11. Game two of the three-game series is scheduled for 1 p.m. PT on Sunday.

After Bridgman's homer staked Nevada to the early 1-0 lead Clemson got a solo home run from Chris Williams leading off the second to tie the game at 1-1. The Tigers scored three times on three hits in the bottom of the fourth to move in front to stay 4-1.

Bridgman's third hit of the day in the top of the fifth was a double on the right field line that scored Marco Valenzuela who reached on a walk and it was 4-2 but Nevada would get no closer. CU scored the final run of the game in the sixth on a solo home run to make it a 5-2 victory for the Tigers.

Pack starter Trevor Charpie (2-6) allowed five runs on seven hits in 6.2 innings and suffered the loss. Charlie Barnes (5-3) earned the victory giving up two runs, one earned in 6.1 innings on the mound. Jeremy Beasley (1) got his first save of the season, pitching a scoreless ninth inning.

Bridgman (3-for-4,R,2RBI) topped the Pack with three hits and drove in two with one coming on his first career home run. He extended his team season-high hit streak to 11 games. Williams (3-for-3,2R,2RBI) had three hits and two RBI for the Tigers.

Notes:
Jordan Pearce's streak of reaching base in 29 consecutive games was snapped as he was 0-for-4 at the plate.
Dillan Shrum extended his reach base streak to 23 games.
Justin Bridgman extended his team season-high hit streak to 11 games.
