May 22, 2017 RENO, Nev. - Ryan Radtke, the talented broadcaster who called countless Wolf Pack memories over the past nine seasons, has accepted a national broadcasting position with Westwood One, it was announced today.
Radtke will call college football, college basketball and other major sporting events for Westwood One, one of the leading national radio networks in the country. Headquartered in New York City, Westwood One delivers programming to thousands of radio stations and digital outlets throughout the country. The company holds radio broadcast rights top leagues and events like the NFL, NCAA, the Olympics, the Masters, NHL and the Premier League.
"I want to thank the University of Nevada and Learfield for the opportunity to broadcast Wolf Pack games," Radtke said. "The past nine years have been the highlight of my professional career and I am so thankful for the time that I have been able to spend behind the mic for Nevada football and basketball. I've had the opportunity to describe great moments and work with tremendous broadcast partners, coaches and players. I'd also like to thank the Wolf Pack fans who have been so supportive of our broadcasts. Nine years ago I was welcomed here with open arms and words cannot express how much that meant to Adrienne and me. This community will always hold a special place in my heart and I look forward to following the future success of Wolf Pack athletics."
Radkte joined the Wolf Pack for the start of the 2008 football season and called nearly 500 games during his nine years at Nevada. He was the lead voice on Wolf Pack football and men's basketball, hosted numerous coaches shows on air, and served as the emcee for dozens of special events during his time at Nevada.
"Ryan's work ethic, professionalism and talent quickly earned the respect of the coaches, student-athletes and staff from the moment he stepped on campus. His passion for his craft formed a bond between the University and its fans," said Chad Hartley, Nevada's associate athletics director for marketing and communications. "To be clear, he is one of the best in the business, and the Wolf Pack is fortunate to have had him tell its story."
The Wolf Pack and Learfield, the multimedia rightsholder for Nevada, will conduct a national search for the next Wolf Pack lead broadcaster. The Wolf Pack broadcasts football, baseball and men's and women's basketball on air in Northern Nevada and online at NevadaWolfPack.com.
"Wolf Pack fans have been fortunate to listen to Ryan's memorable calls the past nine seasons," said Andy McDowell, general manager for Learfield's local Wolf Pack Sports Properties team. "A national audience will soon learn what we already know - he is one of the most talented broadcasters in the country. We are grateful to be a part of his career journey and look forward to listening to his national calls for years to come."
A graduate of Arizona, Radtke came to Reno in 2008 and he also serves as the voice of the Triple-A Reno Aces. He and his wife Adrienne make their home in Sparks.
