ALBUQUERQUE - The University of Nevada (19-34, 13-16 MW) baseball team was unable to complete the series sweep falling 13-6 at New Mexico (29-25-1, 19-9-1) on Saturday afternoon at Santa Ana Star Field. The Wolf Pack and Lobos will meet for the fourth consecutive game on Thursday at 6 p.m. PT in the first round of the Mountain West Championship. UNM will host the four-team tournament after claiming the 2017 regular season title today.

Nevada fell to 19-34 and 13-16 in MW play while the Lobos improved to 29-25-1 and 19-9-1 in conference play.

The Pack led 6-5 going to the bottom of the seventh inning before the Lobos put together a seven-run inning on the way to the 13-6 victory.

Chase Grant's RBI single scored Michael Echavia in the top of the second and Grant Fennell tripled and scored on a wild pitch in the third to make it 2-0 Wolf Pack. UNM scored twice in the bottom of the third to tie the game at two.

A three-run top of the fifth put the Pack back in front 5-2. Grant doubled in two of the runs. The Lobos scored twice in the bottom of the inning to make it a one-run game 5-4. Echavia singled home Nevada's final run of the day in the top of the sixth.

UNM scored a single run in the sixth and took control with the seven-run bottom of the seventh. The final Lobo run crossed the plate in the eighth inning.

Echavia (4-for-5,2R,RBI) led the Pack with four hits and scored two runs. Justin Bridgman (3-for-4,R) added three hits as Nevada totaled 16. Jared Mang (4-for-5,R,3RBI) topped UNM with four hits and added three RBI.

Notes:
Senior pitcher Evan McMahan made his 90th career appearance to tie Rico Lagattuta (1993-96) for the school record. McMahan's 29 appearances this season is third most in a season.
