LOGAN, Utah - The Nevada Wolf Pack track & field team finished fourth at the 2017 Mountain West Outdoor Championships Saturday afternoon with 92.5 points.
The finish marked the highest place and most points since the 2011 WAC Championships, when the Pack took third with 125.5 points. Overall, four school records were broken over the course of the meet. A total of one gold, four silver and three bronze medals were won by Nevada student-athletes.
Junior Katia Coquis Lossio took silver in the javelin throw with her personal record throw of 156 feet and 11 inches (47.83m). The mark moved her up a spot to seventh in Wolf Pack history while securing eight points for Nevada. Senior Savanna Haverfield also scored, finishing seventh with a throw of 123 feet and 5 inches (37.62m).
Nevada's second silver went to junior Brittany Graves over at the triple jump pit. She jumped her second personal record of the season with a best mark of 40 feet and 9 inches (12.42m), moving her to third on the Nevada all-time list.
Senior Nicole Wadden got into the high jump battle of her career Saturday afternoon. She cleared 6 feet and a half inch (1.84m) to shatter the old school record. She jumped back and forth with competitors from UNLV and Air Force. Wadden would go on to take third, a big feat considering her start mark tape blew away in the wind early in the competition.
Senior Emily Myers marked the second broken record of the day and fourth of the meet in the 5000 meter. She ran a converted time of 16:03.44 to take fourth. Battling in a group of four for third through six almost the entire race, the senior passed the runners she needed to over the final 600 meters to score five points for the Wolf Pack.
Joining the silver medal club, freshman Karoline Sauer ran a personal record of 60.39 in the 400 meter hurdles. Not only was the time good enough for a second, but it solidified her fifth place spot on the Nevada all-time list.
Senior Fiyin Olusola went back-to-back outdoor championships of medaling in the 100 meter hurdles when she took third Saturday afternoon. Olusola, who broke the school record in her preliminary race, crossed the finish line in 13.27 to bring home the bronze.
Nevada's 4x100 meter relay team also performed well. With its time of 46.47, the team of senior Kadeisha Hield, Olusola, freshman Karoline Sauer and senior Franziska Kindt took fifth and debuted in a tie for ninth in Wolf Pack history.
Junior Anna DuBois snagged two points for the Pack with her personal record at the shot put ring. Her toss of 47 feet and 6.5 inches (14.49m) put her seventh in the competition and moved her from eighth to seventh on the Wolf Pack all-time list.
Finishing the night, the Pack's 4x400m relay snagged a fourth place finish and the sixth fastest time on the Nevada all-time list, crossing the finish line in 3:45.78.
