RENO, Nev. - Today's Mountain West match at the McArthur Tennis Center came down to the final match on court one and junior Claudia Herrero delivered the victory over Sybille Gauvan to clinch the 4-3 victory for Nevada (8-8, 2-1 MW) over San José State University (10-6, 1-2 MW) on senior day. With the victory in the in final home match of the season the Wolf Pack is now 8-8 and 2-1 in MW play while the Spartans dropped to 10-6 and 1-2 in conference action. Nevada's final regular season match is Saturday a 1 p.m. at Fresno State.

Herrero dropped the first set tiebreaker 7-5 to Gauvan, the 84th ranked singles player by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association. A 6-4 second set victory forced the deciding third set. Herrero led 3-1 in the third set when Gauvan went to the chair umpire and retired giving the Pack junior her 17th win of the season and Nevada its eight team victory. It was Herrero's fourth consecutive win and second in three days over a ranked player after defeating UNLV's 41st ranked singles player Carol Yang on Friday.

The Pack won the No. 1 and No. 2 doubles matches within moments to earn the doubles point. Herrero and Adriana Gergelyova won on court two 7-5. Sheila Morales and Blaga Delic secured the team point with a 6-3 victory on court one.

Delic put Nevada up 2-0 with a dominating 6-1, 6-2 victory over Marine Dans on court three. SJSU earned its first point in the No. 6 singles match when Gaelle Rey defeated Milena Achlamov 6-3, 6-1. A 6-4, 6-4 victory by the Spartans Miyo Kobayashi in the No. 5 singles match over Carlijn Ketting tied the match at 2-2.

Morales' hard fought 7-5, 7-5 win on court two got the Pack within a point of victory 3-2. SJSU's Tamara Culibrk evened it once again at 3-3 following a comeback three set victory1-6, 6-1, and 6-4 in the match on court five. Herrero's comeback win on court one sealed the 4-3 victory for Nevada.

The Pack's lone senior, Morales was honored today in her final home match for her contributions to Wolf Pack tennis. Morales twice earned All-MW singles honors and three times in doubles. She has competed at the NCAA Championship and the USTA/ITA National Indoor Intercollegiate Championships in doubles with partner Delic. The duo's 42 doubles wins is a school record and Morales' 68 singles wins ranks fifth in school history. She is also a three-time MW academic selection.
