HONOLULU - In a pitchers dual at Les Murakami Stadium, Hawai`i (17-8) scored two runs in the bottom of the eighth inning to knock off Nevada (7-20) 3-2 in the second-game of a four-game nonconference series. The loss dropped the Wolf Pack to 7-20 while the Rainbow Warriors won for the seven consecutive time and improved to 17-8.

Pack starter Mark Nowaczewski and UH starter Dominic DeMiero battled throughout the night. Nowaczewski (1-4) was outstanding all night holding UH in check until the Rainbow Warriors scored twice in the eighth to move in front 3-2. The Pack right-hander allowed three runs in a career-high 7.2 innings on the mound and tossed 127 pitches. DeMiero surrendered two runs in his seven innings on the mound but did not receive a decision in the game. Dylan Thomas (1-0) tossed three shutout innings of relief to get the win.

UH scored first in the bottom of the second inning when third baseman Josh Rojas doubled in the initial run of the game. The Pack got an RBI double from Cole Krzmarzick in the fourth inning and second baseman Keaton Smith followed with an RBI single to put the Pack up 2-1.

The Pack held the 2-1 lead until the eighth when the Rainbow Warriors scored a pair of runs. Dustin Demeter's triple scored the first run and a bases loaded walk to Eric Ramirez plated the winning run.

Jordan Pearce (2-for-5), Smith (2-for-4) and Dillian Schrum (2-for-4) all had two hits for the Pack. Krzmarzick and Smith each drove home a run. Demeter (2-for-4, R, RBI) led UH with two hits and drove in one.

Game three is set for 9:35 p.m. PT on Saturday night.
