HONOLULU - The Nevada (7-19) baseball team jumped to a 4-0 lead at Hawai`i (16-8) but the Rainbow Warriors scored 12 unanswered runs on the way to the 12-5 victory in the first game of four being played at Les Murakami this weekend. The Wolf Pack fell to 7-19 while UH improved to 16-8 after winning its sixth consecutive game.

Shortstop Justin Bridgman gave the Pack a 1-0 lead with a sacrifice bunt in the third inning. Catcher Kaleb Foster and third baseman Jaylon McLaughlin delivered RBI singles in the fourth and first baseman Jordan Pearce delivered a sacrifice fly to stake the Pack to a 4-0 lead heading to the bottom of the fourth inning.

UH scored six runs in the fourth, four in the fifth and two more in the sixth to take a 12-4 lead. Nevada added a single run in the seventh inning on a Mike Echavia sacrifice fly to make the final score 12-5.

Trevor Charpie (1-4) suffered the loss pitching 3.1 innings and allowed six runs, five earned. Brendon Hornung (3-2) pitched seven innings to earn his third victory of the season.

Pearce (2-for-3, RBI), McLaughlin (2-for-4, R, RBI) and Keaton Smith (2-for-4,R) had two hits each to lead the Pack. UH designated hitter Dustin Demeter (2-for-4,2R,3RBI) topped the UH offense with two hits and three RBI.

Game two is set for 9:35 p.m. PT on Friday night.
