RENO, Nev. - Putting up two personal records, senior Nicole Wadden is eighth in a crowded and talented field of 28 after day one of the Texas Relays heptathlon.

Wadden started the day off strong with a personal record in the 100 meter hurdles, crossing the finish line in 13.86 seconds. While it didn't move her up the Nevada all-time list, it did solidify her position in seventh. Wadden then tied her high jump personal record, clearing 5 feet and 9.25 inches (1.76m) to take third. The Canada native ended in the middle of the pack in the shot put, but logged yet another personal record, finishing the 200m dash in 25.07.

After four events on day one, the senior is eighth overall and sixth out of collegiate competitors. The heptathlon will wrap up on Thursday with the long jump at 7 a.m. PT, followed by the javelin and 800 meter.
