RENO, Nev. - The Nevada athletics department is seeking to top last year's record donations from former Wolf Pack student-athletes in the Alumni Athlete Give Back Challenge.

The challenge is a friendly competition between all Wolf Pack sports programs to drive alumni contributions and involvement with their sports. In 2016, Wolf Pack alumni contribution 220 overall gifts totaling $110,368. The number of gifts and amount raised last year were high water marks for the department.

"We are really working hard to connect with and engage our former student-athletes and encourage them to give back to their team in a meaningful way," said Tina Ruff, Nevada's associate athletics director for alumni athlete relations. "They have paved the way for the future generations of student-athletes and their legacy is priceless to our staff, coaches, and current players."

The program comes with a unique feature offering bonus funds to the sports finishing in the top spots. Last year, men's golf took the top prize with women's golf in second and softball taking third. The softball program also had the highest percentage of new alumni donors.
