RENO, Nev. - The University of Nevada baseball team (4-11, 2-4 MW) defeated San Diego State (10-6, 2-1 MW) 7-3 to close out their first home conference series. The Wolf Pack will host games this Tuesday and Wednesday at Peccole as well.

Nevada's offense was effective early, scoring three runs from a wild pitch and a two-RBI single by Grant Fennell. The Wolf Pack ended the frame with a 3-0 lead over the Aztecs.

San Diego State would begin to chip away at Nevada's lead when Danny Sheehan hit an RBI double to left field, plating the Aztec's first run of the game. Cole Krzmarzick would get that run back for the Wolf Pack when he scored Keaton Smith from third base on a fielder's choice a half inning later.

The Aztecs would cut the lead down to one with an RBI single in the fourth and a solo shot to left field by Alan Trejo in the seventh to make the game 4-3. SDSU would be shut out the rest of the game by Nevada's bullpen.

The Wolf Pack would more than put the game away in the bottom of the seventh, putting up three more runs to cement the final score at 7-3. Jed Sprague, Keaton Smith and Kaleb Foster all recorded RBIs in the frame.

Nevada allowed no runs in the final two innings, thanks to dominant pitching by both Ty Pennington and Evan McMahan. Freshman Riley Ohl, in his first collegiate start, picked up the win for the Wolf Pack improving his record to 1-1. Hayden Petrovick of SDSU suffered his first loss of the season, falling to 2-1.

The bats came to life for the Wolf Pack on Sunday afternoon, hitting 10-31 on the day and .333 both with runners on and runners in scoring position. Foster had a nice day at the plate going 2-2 and was also walked twice. Fennell led Nevada with two RBIs.
