RENO, Nev. – Just ahead of the biggest rivalry game of the season, the Nevada Wolf Pack men’s basketball team unveiled new Battle Born jerseys to wear against UNLV on Wednesday night.
The new set features yellow trim on the lettering and numbering, along with a silhouetted Nevada state flag symbol on the back. The shorts, featuring light blue streaks through the dark navy blue that runs through the whole jersey, also features the full Battle Born symbol found on the Nevada state flag. A small outline of the state of Nevada filled with yellow is featured on the left shoulder. A white Nevada Wolf Pack logo is on the opposite leg from the Battle Born symbol on the shorts.
“We talked with our players to see if they liked the idea of doing something a little outside the box,” said head coach Eric Musselman. “We wanted to do something that was different and unique. We even talked to Governor Sandoval about it.”
Nevada takes on the UNLV Runnin’ Rebels Wednesday night in what is always the most anticipated game of the season.
“Growing up and watching Nevada and UNLV play, it means a lot actually being here and getting to be a part of it,” said senior D.J. Fenner, who has a long history in the matchup. “One of my personal favorite memories was last year when I got a steal and had a fast break dunk. I just remember running down the court and the crowd was so loud I couldn’t even focus on the rim.
Sophomore Lindsey Drew, although new to the rivalry, understands the extra importance of this game.
“The jersey’s sweet with the yellow trim and the dark blue,” Drew said. “I’m just ready to put it on and go out and play.”
The Pack takes on UNLV Wednesday night in Lawlor Events Center. Tipoff is set for 8 p.m. A limited amount of tickets are still available by calling 348-PACK or visiting nevadawolfpack.com.
