COLUMBUS, Ohio - The University of Nevada rifle team finished fifth at the Patriot Rifle Conference Championship hosted by Ohio State at the Lt. Hugh W. Wylie Range in Columbus, Ohio Saturday and Sunday with a score of 4659.

The top ranked team in the nation, TCU won for the second consecutive year with a score of 4726. Alaska Fairbanks (4705), Ohio State (4691) and Air Force (4673) placed in spots two through four. The Pack finished just ahead of UTEP's 4659.

Sophomore Mitchell Van Patten earned All-PRC honors for the second consecutive year. Van Patten won a shoot-off in the smallbore finals to finish second in the event. posted the Pack's top score in the smallbore with his 584 that earned eighth place. Freshmen Eli Larimer (577) and Rachel Benesh (575) were 17th and 19th respectively giving Nevada three shooters in the top 20.

Junior Sarah Jameson's 592 in air rifle earned her 14th and was top performance by Nevada competitor in the event. Larimer was 19th with his 591 and junior Emily Capaul was one spot back in 20th with her 591.

Next action for the Pack is Feb. 18 at the NCAA Qualifier being hosted by UTEP.
