BOISE, Idaho - After going unbeaten for almost two seasons, the Nevada swimming team suffered its first loss, 158.5-89.5, of the 2016-17 campaign on Saturday against Boise State. The Pack (6-1) also faced Northern Arizona University in the double dual, where Nevada came out on top of the Lumberjacks, 155-113. The loss to Boise State ends the Pack's winning streak at 16 dual meets.

"Give a lot of credit to Boise State and NAU," Nevada head coach Brendon Bray said. "Both teams gave us a tough challenge today but we are ready to turn the page.

On the day, the Pack managed to complete nine top three finishes and three wins, including two individual victories. Nevada was led today by junior Jaeger Turner, who finished the day placing in the top three in all four events she competed in.

Turner won the 100-yard backstroke in narrow fashion, winning that event with a time of 55.25. She also placed second (2:01.82) in the 200-yard backstroke and helped two relay teams finish in second place.

Senior Arantxa Medina-Alegria completed the day with three top three finishes, where she won the 200-yard IM with a time of 2:10.42. She also placed third in the 100-yard breaststroke, swimming that event in 1:05.93 and helped the B team finish in third in the 200-yard medley relay.

Medina-Alegria's senior counterpart Teresa Baerens finished behind her in the 200-yard IM, where Baerens swam that event in 2:13.28. Baerens placed second in the 200-yard freestyle (1:52.07) as well.

In the 400-yard freestyle relay, the A team swam a 3:29.45, which is the third fastest time of the season for that event. The team won this event and was made up junior Emma Payne, sophomores Caitlyn Richardson and Rebecca Murray and freshman Andressa Cholodovskis Lima.

"We are going to begin the process of fine tuning and tapering so we are ready for lifetime-best performances at our conference championships," Bray said.

Nevada will now begin to prepare for the Mountain West Championships. The four-day event will take place Feb. 15-18 in College Station, Texas.
