Competing in the National Pole Vault Summit in Reno this weekend, senior Alison Powers and freshmen Emily Etter and Gaby Palmer showed off their skills before the bulk of the indoor season gets underway with big moves in the record book.

Powers, the leader of the Nevada Wolf Pack's pole vault group, came in at 13 feet and 3.5 inches (4.05 meters) to take her pit. Powers' jumps also shattered her own indoor record, previously held at 12 feet and 9.5 inches.

Etter also claimed victory at her pit with a mark of 12 feet and 8 inches (3.86m), moving her up to a tie for fourth on the all-time list.

Palmer showed off her strong skills, clearing 11 feet (3.35m). Redshirt freshman Chloe Wall competed unattached.

"I loved getting back into the swing of things," said Powers, who sat out last year's indoor and outdoor seasons with a foot injury. "The Pole Vault Summit is the best way to get ready for the year, surrounded by so much talent in one competition."

The full Nevada track & field squad will return to action for the Bronco Invitational in Boise, Idaho on Jan. 21.
