RENO, Nev. - The Nevada Wolf Pack cross country team topped the Utah Utes Friday night in the Nevada Chase Race, held at Sierra Sage in Reno.

The Pack was led by redshirt freshman Lindsey Adams (22:09.5), who claimed victory at the Nature's Bakery Nevada Twilight Class. Her time debuts her at 20th on the Nevada all-time list in what ended up being a slower paced race due to course conditions. Nevada claimed second through sixth for the scoring positions, giving Nevada just 20 points to Utah's 41. The meet marks Nevada's second victory in as many races.

"The vast majority of the team had very good races tonight," said head coach Kirk Elias. "Our depth showed as we didn't run three of our top six from Twilight. We put down a darn good score when the race was done."

The Chase Race featured several different start times, with some runners starting up to two minutes after the first group. A race like the Chase Race makes for interesting race plans and strategy.

"We competed very well," Elias said. "Our kids really had their heads in the game and this was a great next step."

Now, the Pack will take a three week break before the next meet.

"We have some real work to do over the next three weeks physically and mentally to get ready for the pre-national meet."
