RENO, Nev. – Cade Knutson has been added to second-year University of Nevada head men’s basketball coach Eric Musselman’s staff as a graduate assistant.  Knutson joins the Pack after recently coaching the freshman team at Crater High School in Central Point, Ore. while attending Southern Oregon University.

"We are excited to announce the hiring of Cade,” Musselman said.  “His energy and enthusiasm are infectious, and his experience with USA basketball will be a tremendous asset to our staff"

Knutson has worked with USA basketball eight plus years, first starting while in eighth grade.

Following a stellar career at Fernley High School he played basketball two seasons at Southern Oregon University.  As a member of the Vaqueros basketball team he was a three-time first team all-league selection.  In 2012 he was named to the all-state squad and was named the league’s most valuable player.  A four-year letter winner he holds the FHS record for scoring having totaled 1,479 points.

In May Knutson received his bachelor’s degree from Southern Oregon in health and physical education.  His the son of Jeff and Renee Knutson.  Jeff was a head high school football coach for 23 years in Nevada at Moapa Valley, Boulder City and Fernley High Schools.
