ABCA/Rawlings All-Region Teams

RENO, Nev. - After a breakout sophomore season, Nevada baseball's TJ Friedl has been named to the ABCA/Rawlings West All-Region Second Team. Friedl is one of eight players from the Mountain West to be named to an all-region team.

Friedl posted a stellar individual season in 2016, becoming the first player in program history to bat .400 since 2001. The Pleasanton, Calif., native batted .401 with 89 hits, 68 runs and 35 RBI. Friedl ranked second in the nation in triples, fourth in runs and 11th in batting average.

In addition to being named to the ABCA/Rawlings West All-Region Second Team, Friedl was also named to the All-Mountain West first team and to the All-MW Tournament Team this year.

Friedl's tremendous campaign helped head coach T.J. Bruce and the Wolf Pack take the MW by surprise. Despite being voted sixth in the preseason poll, Nevada placed tied for second in regular season standings and advanced to the MW tournament finals for the first time in program history.

Nevada has landed a player on the west all-region team for three straight seasons. This is Friedl's first career regional honor.
