Day three results
CLOVIS, Calif. - A bulk of events began Friday evening at the Mountain West Outdoor Track & Field Championship with Nevada junior Fiyin Olusola and sophomore Makeya White leading the way.
All-in-all three Wolf Pack student-athletes qualified in their preliminary races for Saturday's finals. Olusola, White and sophomore Alexandra Tierney each advanced in their respective events.
Olusola shot off the starting block in the 100m hurdles and ran one of the fastest times in the conference this season. She won her heat and finished second overall in the preliminaries with a time of 13.29 seconds. Her time is a new personal best and gets her closer to the school record of 13.22 set in 1995 by Ali McKnight.
Also competing in the 100m dash were senior Kashae Knox and sophomore Alyssa Porter and despite missing the finals these two still posted solid performances. Knox sprinted to a season-best time of 11.86 seconds. Porter posted a PR of 11.88 seconds and debuts on the Nevada all-time list in seventh.
White competed in two sets of preliminary races on Friday and qualified in the 100m dash and barely missed the qualifying mark in the 200m dash. In the 100m she clocked in at 11.59 seconds, barely missing the school record of 11.54 also set by McKnight in the mid-90s. It is a PR for White and bumps her up to second on the all-time list.
In the 200m White also posted a new PR, sprinting through the line in 24.13 seconds. Her time missed the qualifying mark by .08 seconds but is the third best time in outdoor program history. Porter also competed in the 200m dash and ran a PR time of 24.66 seconds during her preliminary run.
Also qualifying for Saturday's finals for the Pack was Tierney in the 400m hurdles. Tierney earned the ninth and final qualifying spot with a time of 1:02.66.
Earning points for Nevada on day three was the shot put pairing of sophomore Anna DuBois and freshman Brandi French. DuBois PR'd with a throw of 46'11.75" (14.32m), increasing her hold on eighth place on the all-time list. She placed seventh in the event and earned two points. French finished right behind her teammate in eighth place, earning one point, with a throw of 46'6.75" (14.19m).
Heading into the final day the Wolf Pack sits in eighth place out of 11 teams with 11 points. Colorado State leads the field having accumulated 89 points.
