RENO, Nev. - The University of Nevada baseball team and the Reno Aces competed in their annual exhibition on Tuesday evening at Greater Nevada Field, marking the seventh straight season Reno's two ball clubs have meet on the diamond.
The Wolf Pack fell short, 8-0, as the Aces scored three runs in the fourth and four runs in the sixth to pull away from Nevada. The Pack was led by junior Trenton Brooks, who hit a leadoff double on the first pitch of the game, and sophomore Grant Fennell, who singled to right field in the third frame.
Partial proceeds from the exhibition benefited the Nevada Dugout Club, which is the primary fundraising body for Pack baseball. The Aces have now donated $97,500 to the Nevada Dugout Club in the past seven seasons.
Nevada returns to action this weekend with nonconference competition at Texas State. The three-game series between the Wolf Pack (13-12) and Bobcats (18-10) is set for April 8-10 in San Marcos, Texas. First pitch times are 4 p.m. PT Friday, 1 p.m. Saturday and 11 a.m. on Sunday.
