DRAKE RELAY RESULTS
OSU HIGH PERFORMANCE RESULTS
CORVALLIS, Ore. -- Senior Raffaela Wiesbeck took third in the javelin throw at the Drake Relays Friday afternoon in a highly competitive field of throwers.
The Germany native, who currently holds the seven spot on the Nevada outdoor all-time list, just barely made the finals, coming in at ninth after three throws with a flight best mark of 145 feet and nine inches. However, with the determination to prove herself, the javelin thrower surged in the finals. Her best of 155 feet and five inches propelled her to third in the event, beating out competitors from Baylor, TCU, Idaho and Utah.
"I was really happy with the whole javelin group," said assistant coach Scott Williamson. "They did a great job of competing. We had three in the finals of a very prestigious meet and we're really looking forward to the conference championships and the NCAAs."
Back in Oregon, two personal records were set in the 1500 meter run under the lights. Senior Caitlin Devitt-Payne and sophomore Meagan Wood both ran the best races of the collegiate careers. Devitt-Payne came in at 4:31.39, just more than a second off her previous best, set two years ago and moving her up to eighth in school history. Wood's time of 4:37.60 is also more than a second improvement from her old best.
Competition will continue for the Pack Saturday with shot put at the Drake Relays and a full slate of running and field events at Oregon State.
