RENO, Nev. - Sitting atop the Mountain West standings with a 19-5 record, the Nevada softball team returns to Hixson Park this week and will welcome Boise State for a three-game from March 24-26.
The series kicks off on Thursday at 4 p.m. followed by another 4 p.m. start-time on Friday before wrapping up on Saturday at 12 p.m. Saturday will feature an Easter egg hunt for all beginning at 11:30.
The Wolf Pack comes off a 5-2 week that featured a split of a doubleheader in its home opener against Sacramento State and a 4-1 mark over the weekend at the Grizzly Classic. The Broncos took two out of three from the Pack last season in Boise. In that three-game series,
Megan Sweet hit .615 (8-for-13) with two home runs, a walk and three RBI.
PURCELL NAMED MW PLAYER OF THE WEEK • After tying the NCAA Division I record with 13-consecutive at-bats last week,
Jennifer Purcell was awarded Mountain West Player of the Week honors.
• Purcell hit .778 (14-for-18) with two home runs, four doubles and nine RBI all without striking out.
• Her 13 hits in 13 at-bats tied an NCAA record that was set by April Setterlund of Boston University in 2010 and was last matched by Haley Ward of Norfolk State in 2013.
WOLF PACK CRACKS THE TOP 100 IN FIRST RPI RANKINGS • The first RPI rankings were released this week and Nevada checked in at No. 93 in the nation, the third highest RPI in the Mountain West.
• Nevada is one of only three teams in the conference to be ranked in the top 100 along with Fresno State (20th) and San Diego State (55th).
