RESULTS

DAVIS, Calif. -- In yet another windy and rainy outdoor meet, the Nevada track & field team took several top five places at the Aggie Open on Saturday.

Nevada logged a total of 13 top five finishes and a victory in Davis, Calif. Especially strong performances came in the 4x100 meter relay, the 100m hurdles and the javelin throw, which took place on Friday.

Nevada's victory of the day came in the 4x100m relay. Sophomore Makeya White got Nevada off to an early lead before handing off the baton. The final stretch of the race saw a neck and neck battle between junior Kadeisha Hield and Emma Redick of UC Davis. The two exchanged small leads a couple of times before the Nevada anchor leaned across the line for the photo finish. The relay team finished with a time of 47.01.

McKenna Evans took on the daunting 2000m steeplechase in the morning. Coming around the second lap, Evans broke away from the group early with just one runner ahead of her. Leaping over the hurdle into the water, the sophomore never faltered and held onto her spot. Although a few runs at the top spot were made, Evans ended in a strong second place with a time of 7:04.55.

Fiyin Olusola brought yet another strong performance to the track in the 100m hurdles. Olusola found herself in an incredible tight group of hurdlers in the middle lanes, finishing second with a time of 13.84. The junior was just .04 seconds out of first place with only .4 seconds separating first from third.

Tara Park logged a top three finish in the discus with a mark of 137 feet and two inches. After making it into the finals in third, the sophomore got her best mark with the first throw of the finals so solidify her place. Park placed second among collegiate athletes, as one unattached placed ahead of her.

The 1500m saw four Nevada runners competing. Lindsey Adams, who held toward the middle of the Pack for the beginning of the race, began making her move passing runner after runner. In the end, the freshman placed third with a time of 4:44.06. Sophomore Meagan Wood came across the line in 4:46.70 for fifth and junior Sidney Root followed closely behind with a time of 4:47.04 for sixth.

Two fourth place finishes for the Pack came in the long jump and the 100m dash. Hield took fourth in the long jump with a mark of 17'9.75". Sophomore Alyssa Porter, the lone Nevada runner in the 100m dash, cross the line in 12.34 seconds. The race was another close one as Porter found herself just .03 seconds out of a top three finish. Porter also claimed a fourth place finish in the 200m dash. Katelin Westerterp picked up a top five finish in the 400m hurdles as well.

Nathalie Cartan earned a third place finish in the triple jump.

The javelin throw took place Friday afternoon with Nevada competitors junior Nicole Wadden and freshman Devlin Sevy. Both earned top three finishes, with Wadden taking second off a best of 109 feet and 10 inches and Sevy coming in third with her mark of 108 feet and six inches.

Next up on the schedule for Nevada is the Hornet Invite in Sacramento, Calif. next weekend.
