FORT WORTH, Texas - The 13th ranked University of Nevada rifle team placed fifth at the Patriot Rifle Conference Championships held this past weekend at the TCU Rifle Range. The Wolf Pack shot 4636 while third ranked TCU won the title with a 4690.

Next action for the Pack is Feb. 18 against UTEP in Fairbanks, Alaska. Nevada will then compete in the NCAA Qualifier with Alaska and UTEP on Feb. 20.

Alaska (4687), Ohio State (4681), and Air Force (4672) followed TCU in the scoring. UTEP placed sixth with a score of 4594. All six PRC teams are ranked in the top 20.

Freshman Mitchell Van Patten led the Pack on Saturday in the smallbore competition. After shooting 582 in the prelims to finish seventh he advanced to the finals where he took fifth out of 36 competitors. Sophomore Justin Nissen was 20th with a 577 and senior Greta Ochsner placed 26th with her score of 574. Niki Silveria (567), Emily Capaul (565) and Sarah Jameson (565) took spots 32-34.

Sunday the Pack posted one of the top the team's top air rifle scores of 2348. Ochsner and Capaul both shot 588 to finish 17th and 19th respectively. Van Patten's 586 earned him 23rd and Jameson was 25th as she also shot 586. Nissen placed 32nd with a 577 and Silveria shot 575 to take 35th.
