Day 1 Results Get Acrobat Reader

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - University of Nevada sophomore Mitchell Van Patten finished in the top 10 on Friday, in the 10-meter air rifle at the Winter Airgun Championships being held at the Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colo. this weekend. The three-day event continues on Saturday and Sunday.

The event is part of USA Shooting with the winners earning an invitation to the national team and gives the Wolf Pack shooters break from collegiate competition.

Van Patten shot 618.4 to advance to the finals of the open and junior divisions. His 205.1 in the open finals earned him fourth while he placed sixth in the junior division with a score of 161.5.

Junior Justin Nissen shot 612.7 in qualifying to place 11th in the open division and 21st in the junior division.

Junior Emily Capaul and senior Jessica Katsuyama are competing in the women's divisions. Capaul shot 407.9 to placed 29th in the junior event and was 37th in the open division.

Katsuyama posted a score of 388.5 to finish 105th in the junior competition and 120th in the open division.
