COLORADO SPRINGS - The 12th ranked University of Nevada rifle team splits its four matches with No. 3 Air Force and No. 17 UTEP over the weekend. The Wolf Pack (5-3) had its three-match win streak snapped. Air Force improved to 5-2 while the Miners are now 0-6.

Saturday Air Force shot 4673, Nevada 4643 and UTEP 4622. Pack freshman Mitchell Van Patten posted the top aggregate score of 1173 and shot the top score of 582 in smallbore. His 591 in air rifle was second.

In smallbore Justin Nissen (572), Emily Capaul (572) and Sarah Jameson (569) finished eighth, ninth and 10th respectively. Jameson was fourth in air rifle with a score of 590 while Nissen finished ninth with a 587.

On Sunday the Pack shot three points better to post a 4646. Air Force also improved 23 points to 4696 while UTEP shot the same 4622.

Van Patten slipped to third in the aggregate to 1175 and was second in the smallbore despite improving his score to 584. He again shot 591 in air rifle but fell to sixth as Air Force had the top five shooters in the event.

The Pack had three additional shooters in the top 10 of the smallbore. Freshman Eli Larimer was seventh with a 575 followed closely by Jameson's 573 and Capaul's 572.

Capaul shot 589 to finish seventh in air rifle while freshman Rachel Benesh was 11th with a 586.

Nevada travels to No. 1 TCU on Saturday.
