RENO, Nev. - The ninth ranked University of Nevada rifle team outshot No. 18 UTEP by a score of 4656-4577 on Saturday in a Patriot Rifle Conference match. With the victory the Wolf Pack improved to 1-1 in conference play while the Miners are 0-1.

The Pack won the smallbore competition 2300-2273 to take an early lead in the match. Junior Justin Nissen posted the top score with a 578 followed closely by Sarah Jameson (577) and Mitchell Van Patten (576). UTEP's Abby Monique also shot 576 in smallbore.

In the air rifle competition Nevada won 2356-2304. Jameson and Van Patten tied for top honors shooting 591. The duo broke 590 for the first time this season. Freshmen Rachel Benesh continues to shoot well in her first season in the Silver & Blue posting a 590 after producing a 593 a week ago. Another freshman Eli Larimer followed his 587 last week with a 584 against UTEP.

Nevada returns the trip next week traveling to El Paso, Texas to shoot against UTEP on Saturday.
