RENO, Nev. - The 12th ranked University of Nevada rifle won its third consecutive match downing No. 19 Akron 4648-4623 in Reno this weekend. With the victory the Wolf Pack is 3-1 on the season while the Zips are 0-1. Because of a flight delay, the match originally scheduled for Saturday was shot over two days.

The Pack won Saturday's air rifle 2343-2320 behind Mitchell Van Patten's individual and team season best 594. Justin Nissen posted his top score of the season with a 589 to finish with the second best score in air rifle. Akron's Zach Strohl took third with a 587 and hunior Sarah Jameson finished four with her 586.

Sunday the Pack took the smallbore by just two points, 2305-2303. Jameson shot her top score of the season to finish first with a 584. Van Patten and Akron's Julia Hatch tied for second with a 582. Pack freshman Rachel Benesh had her top performance of the season with a 573.

Nevada returns to action next Saturday at No. 3 Air Force.
