SPOKANE, Wash. - The University of Nevada (1-4) women's tennis team concluded a three-match weekend in Washington with a 5-2 loss at Gonzaga (3-1) on Sunday. The Wolf Pack went 1-2 on the weekend and are 1-4 on the season. The Bulldogs improved to 3-1 with their win today.
Nevada is off until Feb. 13 when they travel to Arlington, Texas to play a pair of matches at UT Arlington and versus SMU.
Gonzaga swept the three doubles matches to secure the first point of the match today. The Pack's #2 team of Sheila Morales and Andriana Gergelyova lost 7-6 as they dropped the tiebreaker 9-7.
Morales got the Pack even with a 7-6, 6-1 victory at #2 singles over Samantha Polayes. The Bulldogs won the next four singles matches to win 5-2. Gonzaga's Domonique Garley clinched the win with a 6-2, 6-0 victory at #6 singles over the Pack's Delaney Phanco.
Sophomore Claudia Herrero earned the Pack's second point of the match with a straight sets 6-2, 6-2 victory at #1 singles of Sophie Whittle.
