BOISE, Idaho - Junior Nicole Wadden shone in several pentathlon events Friday afternoon to open up the Ed Jacoby Invitational and Multi in Boise, Idaho.
Wadden logged personal bests in both the high jump (1.77 meters) and the shot put (10.54 meters) during the event. The Canada native also moved from eighth to third in the Nevada all-time record book in the high jump, where she took first after some back-and-forth when the field narrowed. Wadden finished her day after four events. She did not compete in the 800m run, the final event of the afternoon, due to the intense and condensed nature of the pentathlon and the closeness of the next meet in Seattle, Wash. on Jan. 29.
In the weight throw, Tara Park, Anna DuBois and freshman Brandi French all competed. While French and DuBois fell short of the final flight, Park was able to advance. She finished the event in seventh with a distance of 14.97 meters.
The majority of the meet's events occur tomorrow, with the sprints, long distance runs, jumps, pole vault and shot throw. The long jump and 60 meter dash preliminaries begin at 11 a.m. MT. Fans can follow along with the meet on Twitter at @WolfPackTrack.
