HONOLULU - The University of Nevada's women's tennis team was shutout 7-0 by 56th ranked Washington (4-0) at the UH Tennis Complex in Honolulu today. The Wolf Pack is 0-2 on the season after fall 4-3 to the University of Hawai`i on Thursday.
Next action for the Pack is Jan. 29-31 in Spokane, Wash. Nevada will play three matches in consecutive days against Eastern Washington, Montana and Gonzaga.
UW won the two completed doubles matches to earn the team point. Nevada's #1 team of Blaga Delic and Sheila Morales lost 6-1 to the Huskies duo of Miki Kobayashi and Tame Grende. Delaney Phanco and Sara Korzeniecki fell 6-0 to Nour Abbes and Grace Ysidora in #3 doubles. The #2 doubles match between the Pack's Claudia Herrero and Adriana Gergelyova and UW's Elianne Douglas and Stacey Fung was tied 3-3 when the doubles point was clinched. The match went unfinished.
The Huskies won all six doubles matches to take the match 7-0. Herrero fell 6-0, 6-2 to Abbes in #1 singles. Morales lost at #2 singles 6-3, 6-3 to Fung. Delic was defeated 6-0, 6-2 by Grende in the #3 singles match.
Playing #4 singles Gergelyova lost in three sets, 6-1, 4-6 and 10-2 to Douglas. Korzenieck fell 6-1, 6-0 to Ysidora at #5 singles. The #6 singles went to Kenadi Hance 6-1, 6-4 over the Pack's Monika Magusiak.
