• MW Preseason Poll
RENO, Nev. -- The Wolf Pack cross country team has been picked to finish sixth in the Mountain West in the 2015 coaches' poll. The New Mexico Lobos were selected to take first.
Nevada's roster consists of five seniors, including Emily Myers, who holds the school record in the 6000 meter. Despite the preseason poll, she has much higher goals for the team.
"We're really ready to come back and get ready for the conference meet that we're hosting," Said Myers. "Most of what I'm focused on is the team and bringing our four, five and six runners closer to our one, two and three runners."
Head coach Kirk Elias, who enters his 11th season as a head coach, returns 15 runners from the previous season.
"This is the most veteran squad we've had in many years," said Elias. "There's a lot of very good athletes who have put in the time. I expect a great deal of leadership to come from those runners who have been in the program."
Nevada will kick off the cross country season on Sept. 4 in Sparks when they host the Nature's Bakery Twilight Classic at Shadow Mountain Park. The race will begin at 8:30 p.m. The Pack will also play host to the Mountain West Championships on Oct. 30 at Montreux Golf Course.
