RENO, Nev. - The University of Nevada men's basketball team will play at Wichita State this season on Dec. 22 at Koch Arena in Wichita, Kan. This Shockers have appeared in the last four NCAA Tournaments including a trip to the 2013 Final Four. The 2014-15 team went 30-5 and lost in the NCAA Sweet 16 to Notre Dame.
Nevada's Mountain West schedule was released in June and the remainder of the nonconference schedule is still being completed.
"Wichita State is one of the toughest places to play in the country," Nevada head coach Eric Musselman said. "They have won 32 games in a row at home and Gregg Marshall is a tremendous coach. He has led the Shockers to an average of 30 wins over the last five seasons. The shockers are extremely talented with All-American candidates Fred VanVleet and Ron Baker opting to return for their senior years."
Nevada and WSU have played twice in Wichita with each team winning once. The Pack won the last meeting in the NIT on Mar. 18, 2010 at Koch Arena downing the Shockers 74-70 behind Luke Babbitt's 23 points. The loss was the only home setback for WSU during the 2009-10 season.
WSU has sold out 31-straight home games at Koch Arena, the 10,506 seat on-campus venue of the Shockers. The last loss came in the final home game of the 2012-13 season. In the last 167 regular season games, WSU has had more than 10,000 fans at each home game.
The Shockers have won a school record 32 consecutive home games which is the third longest active streak behind Arizona (38) and N.C. Central (35). WSU's current 31-game non-conference winning streak is the fourth-longest nationally.
