RENO, Nev. - Sophomore Sita Kusserow and freshman Kate Hofmeyer each earned Scholar All-American honorable mention accolades by the College Swimming Coaches Association of American. Kusserow and Hofmeyer are one of 41 student-athletes from the Mountain West to earn the academic distinction from the CWCAA.
Kusserow boasts a 3.95 grade point average in biochemistry and molecular biology. The Buehl, Germany, native was a Mountain West Scholar-Athlete Award winner last season and is a two-time all-conference honoree in the pool. This season, Kusserow posted Nevada's top times in the 100 and 200 butterfly and posted six first place finishes on the season.
Hofmeyer enjoyed a strong first season at Nevada, posting a GPA over 3.50 while achieving an NCAA 'B' time standard to earn scholar All-American honors. The freshman from Adelaide, Australia, competed in freestyle, backstroke and butterfly this season, posting seven top-two finishes.
Cumulatively, the Wolf Pack swimming and diving team posted a 3.40 GPA. Every team in the Mountain West achieved a GPA of at least 3.0 during the semester or quarter that coincided with the NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships.
