FRESNO, Calif. -- The University of Nevada (6-9, 0-3 MW) women's tennis team lost a Mountain West match 7-0 at #39 Fresno State (15-3, 4-0 MW) on Friday afternoon at the Spalding G. Wathen Tennis Center. The loss dropped the Wolf Pack to 6-9 overall and 0-3 in MW play. The Bulldogs improved to 15-3 and 4-0 in conference play.
Nevada returns to action on Monday hosting Northern Arizona in a nonconference match at Caughlin Club. The Wolf Pack and Lumberjacks will play at 11:00 a.m.
FS swept the three doubles matches to earn the first point of the match. Maiar Sherif Ahmed and Rana Sherif won the tiebreaker 10-4 to defeat Sheila Morales and Blaga Delic 7-6 in the #1 doubles match. Anneka Watts and Sophie Watts scored a 6-3 victory at #2 doubles over Juliette Legendre and Sheila Smiley at #2 doubles to earn the point. Sofya Malysheva and Tanya Murtagh downed Elissa Pavelea and Sara Korzeniecki 6-2 at #3 doubles.
The Bulldogs won all six singles matches to make the final score 7-0. Sophie Watts won the #1 singles 7-6 (10-4), 6-2 over Morales. Maiar Sherif Ahmed downed Delic 6-0, 6-4 at #2 singles and Aishwarya Agrawa defeated Smiley 6-2, 6-3 in the #3 singles match.
Anneka Watts clinched the FS victory with a 6-0, 6-3 victory over Monika Magusiak at #3 singles. Anne Susdorf won 6-2, 6-2 over Pavelea at #5 singles and Murtagh won 6-3, 6-1 at #6 singles against Korzeniecki.
