FRESNO, Calif. -- After Fresno State narrowly got by the Nevada softball team in the Wolf Pack's 5-3 loss to the Bulldogs last night, the Pack couldn't piece together another rally to get itself back into the game as the `Dogs topped Nevada, 12-0, in five innings on Sunday afternoon.
Senior
Megan Dortch took the loss for the Pack (14-33, 4-14 MW) after giving up three earned runs in 2.1 innings and a day after tossing 3.2 innings of scoreless relief. Junior
Megan Sweet went 1-for-2 to lead the Pack offensively going against the Mountain West's top pitcher in Fresno State's Jill Compton. Sweet is now hitting .483 in conference games this season.
The Bulldogs pushed nine runs across in the bottom of the third but the Pack tried to respond in the next frame. With two outs, Sweet ripped a single through the right side but was left stranded at first to end the inning.
First-place Fresno State continued to add onto its lead in the bottom of the fourth where they scored three to make it 12-0 and give themselves the win.
The Pack will be back at it weekend against San Jose State in the final road trip of 2015.
