Brutus Hamilton Results Bulldog Invitational Results CLOVIS, Calif. -- In its second consecutive weekend of competition, the Nevada track & field team split between two meets on Saturday, the Brutus Hamilton Invitational and the Bulldog Invitational, and brought home a few event wins.
A majority of the Wolf Pack competed at the Bulldog Invitational and posted some solid finishes and marks. Freshman
Katia Coquis Lossio won her first collegiate event in the javelin with a mark of 145'5" (44.32m). The rookie's mark bested runner-up Kylee Vandenberg of UNLV by 17 feet. Teammates
Alyssa Zunino (118'3", 36.04m) and
Savanna Haverfield (116'8", 35.55m) also picked up top-five finishes in the event.
Another event win for Nevada came in the 100m hurdles as sophomore
Fiyin Olusola clocked in at 13.86 seconds to claim the victory. Olusola finished ahead of UNLV's Taylor Pegram who finished with a time of 14.07 seconds.
Jennifer Delucchi (15.10) and
Nicole Wadden (15.33) earned top-10's in the event.
The Wolf Pack secured an event win in a field event, as well, as junior
Alison Powers took home the victory in the pole vault. Powers, who set the school record in this event a few weeks back, cleared 12'10" (3.91m) to stake claim of the top spot in the field.
Rookie sprinter
Katherine Surin led the pace for Nevada in the 100m dash, finishing seventh overall with a time of 12.11 seconds. The Pack notched two additional top-10 showings in the event as
Alyssa Porter and
Makeya White landed ninth and 10th place, respectively. Sophomore
Reighan Fisher snagged fourth place in the 800m run, clocking in at 2:12.86, good for 10th-best in program history.
Surin also produced a good outing in the 200m dash, nearly grabbing a PR with a time of 24.25, landing her a sixth place finish. Rounding out the track performances, the 4x400m relay team of
Brittany Graves, Surin,
Dezirae Pennington and Olusola tied their own best mark of 3:48.90, the 10th-best mark all-time at Nevada.
On the field side of the competition, redshirt freshman gained a huge PR in the discus as she secured a runner-up finish in the event. Park's toss of 148'4" (45.22m) lands her on the Nevada all-time list in the 10th spot. Sophomore
Leah Carter secured a fifth place finish in the high jump after clearing 5'5.25" (1.66m). Wadden, who also competed in the high jump, cleared the same height. Sophomore
Anna DuBois produced a distance of 42'6.75" (12.97m) in the shot put to take home fourth place.
In addition to the competition happening at Fresno State, Nevada sent a few of its student-athletes over to Berkeley to take part in the Brutus Hamilton Invitational. The Pack had three competitors run in the 3000m steeplechase with sophomore
Erika Root leading the way. Root posted a time of 11:00.86 to claim the seventh spot in the field of 14. Freshman
Meagan Wood ran an 18:03.52 in the 5000m run as Nevada's lone competitor in that event.
The Pack's most notable finisher at Brutus Hamilton was junior
Caitlin Devitt-Payne in the 1500m run. Devitt-Payne crossed the line in seventh place with a near PR time of 4:34.87.
Nevada will continue its tune-up for the Mountain West Outdoor Championships next Saturday for the one-day Payton Jordan Invitational in Palo Alto, Calif.
