COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. -- University of Nevada freshmen Emily Capaul and Sara Tashima concluded the 10m air rifle competition in the National Junior Olympic Shooting Championships today at the Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colo. The two Wolf Pack freshmen were among 184 competitors shooting in air rifle at the NJOSC.


"Both Emily and Sara had a strong series of 10s today and know they can compete with the best," head coach Fred Harvey said. "It is a good finish for this season and a great start on next year."


Capaul finished 18th with a score of 815.4 after two days of shooting. The Sutter, Calif. native was in ninth place after Sunday with a score of 410.7 but slipped to 18th after her 404.7 today. She will compete in small bore the next two days.


Tashima moved up 15 places from 64th where she ranked on Sunday to finish 49th. The Honolulu, Hawaii product shot 400.6 on day one and 403.1 today to post a combined score of 803.7. She did not qualify to shoot in the small bore the next two days.
