SANTA BARBARA, Calif. - The University of Nevada (4-7) snapped a four-game losing skid by blanking Westmont (7-5) 7-0 on Saturday morning at the Abbott Tennis Courts. The Wolf Pack stands at 4-7 on the season while Westmont fell to 7-5.
The Pack returns Reno for the home opener next week to play Cal State Stanislaus on Friday at 11 a.m. and hosts Sonoma State on Sunday at noon.
Nevada did not drop a set in the win on Saturday starting with a sweep in the doubles. Sheila Morales teamed with Blaga Delic to win the #1 doubles 8-5 over Lauren Stratman and Inez Costagagna. The Pack duo improved to 9-3 on the season and 7-2 in dual action. Juliette Legendre and Sheila Smiley improved to 9-5 and 6-4 in duals with an 8-1 win over Emily Keach and Grace Davis in #2 doubles. Sara Korzeniecki and Monika Magusiak completed the doubles sweep with an 8-1 victory over Alyson Meyer and Fernanda Rivera in #3 doubles.
Morales downed Stratman 6-2, 6-2 in #1 singles to improve to 11-8 and 6-5 in duals. Legendre cruised in #2 singles 6-2, 6-0 over Meyer and is now 11-7 on the season and 6-4 in dual action. Delic blanked Keach 6-0, 6-0 in #3 singles and also won her 11th match of the season with an 11-9 overall mark and 5-4 dual record.
Smiley claimed the #4 singles victory 6-1, 6-2 over Davis to win her team-high13th match of the season and is now 8-2 in duals. Korzeniecki downed Rivera 6-1, 6-1 in #5 singles. Magusiak won by default as Westmont did not have a player in #6 singles.
